Baby Porter is Here
Well this past week has been filled with many wonderful changes our wonderful son Porter Keith Miller is here. It all started on Thursday night Georgia was having some back pain and and light cramping we both went to bed but Georgia never fell asleep she stayed up all night as her cramps got worse she tried to walk them off and changes what she was doing but she could never fell asleep and she never could get the contractions to go away so at around 5 AM i got up and sat with Georgia we talked a little about what was going on she said she didn't feel that bad so i went and took a shower and ate some breakfast at about the time i was finishing my bowl of cereal Georgia said you better hurry we need to go so i quickly brushed my teeth and we headed out the door. we stopped by our friends house ( the Torres ) which was on the way to the hospital so we could give Georgia a blessing when we got the the hospital we walked into the ER it was about 7:30 or 8:00 AM on Friday there was no one there except the nurses they quickly checked us in and sent us to Labor and Delivery there was no other babies or women in labor there it was awesome all of the attention was on us they had Georgia change and they checked a few things out one of them was how dilated she was she was only to a 3 so they told us to go walk around for an hour and then come back. we walked around it started out just me and Georgia and Her mama as we walked her daddy found us and Briley. when we got back to Labor and delivery they took us to our room which was huge, even bigger than a hotel room i thought, they checked Georgia again and told us she was to a 4 so the admitted us. Georgia was so strong every time she had a contraction she would just take deep breath and it didn't seem like the pain was all that bad around a 11: 45 she was at about 5 so the nurse said if you are going to get a epidural you should get it now before the anesthesiologist go to lunch so she said she wanted one and in about 10 minutes he was there and she got the epidural she once again did great and was feeling much better after she got it she could still feel pressure but its wasn't that bad as the day went on they kept coming to check her and at about 4 pm they told Georgia she was at 9 cm and that it was time to start pushing. this is when things get crazy they took here bed and put it about 3 and a half feet off the ground and left a little spot for her butt to sit on and from her butt to the end of the bed was taken off under there was a bucket to catch all the goodies and the pulled up some leg stirrup things that's her thighs sat in and she get to start pushing at first it didn't seem that bad but about 20 minuets into pushing it got really hard i think because porter was was getting into the birth canal so then it got really hard on Georgia and you could sure see it her face would get really red all the way through her shoulders and i could tell that at the end of every push she wanted to be done because she was so exhausted but at 4:49 pm Porter was here and was doing great he was 7 lbs 15oz and was 20 and a half inches long. as soon as they pulled him out he went to crying and he also peed everywhere it was find of funny i got to cut the cord and then Georgia had to push out the after birth and i stayed right there with her and now i have a son everything is going great Georgia is a little sore and now so is Porter but all is well we couldn't have had a better pregnancy and delivery we feel very blessed that we were able to have everything go so well we stayed there for 2 nights and we are now home trying to help Porter learn to breast feed he is having a hard time with it though. the 3 biggest surprises about pregnancy were how hard it was for Georgia like how much she had to push i really expected to be at the hospital for maybe 2 hours and Porter would be here but that wasn't the case, i also thought that's Georgia was going to be like screaming or showing a lot more emotion than she was she would just take deep breathes until the contraction was over she really amazed me with how much she was able to handle and go through and yet it seemed like she was fine i know i would have been screaming and the last thing was that watching my son come into the world wasn't scary or gross or anything like that i i was so at peace and i know everything would be ok and i know i felt that way because i know the gospel is true and that heavenly fathers was watching over us and making sure that Georgia and Porter is now ok.
